Justray is an open-source, terminal-based VPN and proxy client released under the GPL-3.0 license. It routes network traffic through an embedded engine directly from the command line, delivering private proxy management free of trackers, accounts, or proprietary bloatware.

Technical Overview of Justray

Under the hood, Justray decouples its terminal user interface from background operations by pairing an independent daemon with an embedded sing-box core, ensuring active tunnels persist even after detaching. Distributed via package managers, PowerShell/shell scripts, and portable direct binary fetching, it avoids heavy GUI runtime dependencies to keep Windows memory usage around 100 MB. As fully transparent GPL-3.0 software, it processes configurations locally without telemetry or vendor lock-in.

Core Features of Justray

  • Extensive protocol support: Handles modern proxies natively, including VMess, VLESS, Trojan, WireGuard, Shadowsocks, Hysteria 1/2, TUIC, AnyTLS, and SOCKS5.
  • Headless background daemon: Maintains active proxy tunnels through justrayd even after exiting or closing the terminal interface.
  • Flexible subscription imports: Parses remote links and Clash or Mihomo YAML files directly, providing automatic updates with zero manual conversion.
  • Lightweight resource footprint: Operates using approximately 100 MB of RAM on Windows systems, bypassing heavy Electron-based interfaces.

System Compatibility

Available for Windows 1803+ (including native PowerShell and WSL), macOS 13+, and Linux (x86_64/aarch64).
